Essay — Why Some Things Last
We rarely remember when we bought the things we love most.
We don`t remember the date we bought them, or how much they cost. Instead, we remember the morning we wore them for the first time. The journey they took with us. The rain that caught us by surprise. The dinner that stretched late into the night.
Over time, things become more than just things. They become witnesses to our lives.
Perhaps that is why some stay with us far longer than we ever imagined. Not because they were the most expensive. Not even because they were fashionable. But because they simply lived through that time alongside us.
Some things grow more beautiful with age. Linen becomes softer. Leather develops a character of its own. Wood carries the marks of touch. The edges of a book turn yellow with time.
There is no loss in these changes. Only a story.
Perhaps that is why we value things made with care. Not things that are perfect. Not things made to impress. But things that allow time to leave its mark.
We believe good design does not fight time. It lives alongside it.
And perhaps the true value of a thing is not measured by how long it stays new, but by how much life it gets to share with us.
What is one thing in your home that tells the story of your life?
